Belgium short-term rental registration (2026)

Updated: September 2026

Belgium has no single national STR registration number. Hosts must comply with Brussels-Capital, Flanders or Wallonia rules before listing on Airbnb or Booking. Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 requires platforms to verify registration numbers from 20 May 2026.

Three regions, three systems

Brussels-Capital: prior declaration dossier to Brussels Economy and Employment before any rental (1 to 90 consecutive nights). Flanders: mandatory aanmelding at Toerisme Vlaanderen under the Logiesdecreet, even occasional Airbnb. Wallonia: compulsory registration with Tourisme Wallonie before guests arrive, including fire safety and planning compliance.

EU 2024/1028 and platform checks

Platforms verify registration numbers and may report activity via SDEP where Member States require it. Display your regional number on every OTA listing once issued.
