Barcelona short-term rental registration (HUT)

Catalonia registers tourist housing in the Registre de Turisme de Catalunya (HUT). Spain's Supreme Court STS 620/2026 annulled the national NRUA layer for listing verification. Platforms now expect your regional HUT under Regulation (EU) 2024/1028. Guest reporting in Catalonia uses Mossos Hotels, not SES.HOSPEDAJES. NRUA vs HUT after STS 620/2026

Do not treat a defunct NRUA code as your Airbnb or Booking registration number. The operative identifier for Catalonia is the HUT issued through the Catalan tourism register. VUDA or SDEP data-sharing obligations remain separate from the listing number field.

Obtain and store HUT

Complete municipal and Generalitat steps for Habitatge d'Ús Turístic. Use Canal Empresa (https://canalempresa.gencat.cat/) or published municipal procedures. When you receive HUT, enter it in Host Registry and set status to active.

Barcelona municipal rules

Barcelona adds zone restrictions and municipal requirements on top of the Catalan HUT, including urbanistic licensing under Catalan Decree-law 3/2023. Press and municipal communications have reported that the Ajuntament may not renew HUT licences through November 2028 (confirm current policy on Ajuntament tourism pages before relying on any licence end date). Review Ajuntament guidance before publishing. Host Registry does not obtain municipal permits for you.

EU 2024/1028 on platforms

Display HUT on every OTA listing. Platforms validate regional numbers from 20 May 2026. Mark listing display in Host Registry per channel.

Mossos guest reporting (separate)

Within 24 hours of check-in you must report guests on Mossos Hotels under RD 933/2021. SES.HOSPEDAJES is the national Ministry of Interior system for other regions, not Catalonia. Host Registry prepares Annex I data. You submit on Mossos yourself.
